DESCRIPTION

This session focuses on managing malnutrition in head and neck oncology patients.

The speaker, Jade, is an Advanced Lead Dietitian in Head and Neck Oncology. As part of her role, she represents dietetics within the Head and Neck MDT and is part of a team currently collecting data on prophylactic vs reactive tube placement and outcomes in this patient group. Jade is also working on gastrostomy placement pathways within the MDT to alleviate longer hospital stays and to improve patient outcomes.

Jade’s main interest is oral maxillofacial surgery, with a keen focus on enteral feeding and improving quality of life for patients. In her role, she wishes to achieve patient centred care and feels a closer look at symptom control and pre-treatment nutrition would be of worth.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the sessions is to provide up-to-date guidance on the dietary management of specific conditions.
